Novelty spider and fly double brooch
Estimate: £400 – £600
Adding a touch of whimsical Victorian-style novelty to our upcoming sale is a striking diamond, sapphire, and ruby spider and fly double brooch, joined by a delicate connecting safety chain.
The larger spider motif features a pave-set abdomen and head with rich blue sapphires and rose-cut diamonds set in silver-topped white metal, accented with high-grade yellow metal legs and ruby-set eyes. The smaller fly motif is similarly gem-set with a central vibrant ruby and rose-cut diamond wings. Both intricate insect figures are mounted onto bar brooches (the later bar marked ‘9CT’), creating a narrative piece of antique-inspired novelty jewellery.
